Every Kenyan, regardless of income, gender, age, or location, deserves quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare.<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why the Right to Health Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Health is the foundation of social and economic well-being. Without good health, individuals cannot work, study, or contribute meaningfully to their families and communities. When healthcare is denied or delayed, it deepens poverty and inequality, especially for the <strong>marginalised and vulnerable groups<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kenya\u2019s Constitutional and Legal Framework<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Article 43 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010<\/strong>: Every person has the right to the highest attainable standard of health, including reproductive healthcare.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Article 53<\/strong>: Children have the right to basic nutrition, shelter, and healthcare.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Article 56<\/strong>: Minority and marginalised groups must be provided with reasonable access to health services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Universal Health Coverage (UHC)<\/strong> commitments: Kenya has pledged to achieve health for all as part of its national development agenda.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenges Facing the Right to Health<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>High cost of medical services and medicines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shortages of healthcare workers and poor distribution across counties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Underfunding of public health facilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exploitation by private insurers and healthcare providers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marginalisation of rural, poor, and vulnerable communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KAI\u2019s Commitment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>KAI is committed to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Advocacy for Affordable Healthcare<\/strong> \u2013 pushing for lower costs of essential medicines and services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Accountability<\/strong> \u2013 monitoring how public funds for healthcare are spent and demanding transparency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Equity<\/strong> \u2013 ensuring marginalised communities and persons with disabilities are not left behind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Public Participation<\/strong> \u2013 promoting citizen involvement in health policy and budget decisions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protection Against Exploitation<\/strong> \u2013 holding insurers, providers, and agencies accountable when they deny or delay care.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Healthcare is not just about hospitals or medicine\u2014it is about <strong>dignity, equality, and justice<\/strong>.
